The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organized a one-day National Workshop in New Delhi on opportunities for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Green Hydrogen Supply Chain. The workshop aimed to explore the key role of MSMEs in developing India's green hydrogen ecosystem. Shri Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi emphasized the government's commitment to innovation-led growth and the crucial role of MSMEs in India's energy transition. The workshop included discussions on technology collaboration, business opportunities, decentralized hydrogen production through biomass, and catalyzing investments in the green hydrogen ecosystem. The workshop marked a significant step towards mainstreaming MSMEs in India's clean energy transition and showed MNRE's dedication to building an inclusive green hydrogen economy. The event highlighted the interest of MSMEs in entering the green hydrogen sector and emphasized the need for standardized protocols, shared innovation platforms, and Green Hydrogen Clusters. Experts noted India's potential to become a manufacturing hub for green hydrogen technologies like electrolysers and fuel cells. The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to make India a global hub for green hydrogen production, usage, and export. By 2030, the Mission targets significant outcomes including green hydrogen production capacity, renewable energy addition, investments, job creation, reduced fossil fuel imports, and greenhouse gas emissions abatement. The Mission envisions a self-reliant green hydrogen ecosystem by empowering MSMEs and leveraging their innovative capabilities.
