Australia has announced a significant investment of A$432 million in a green hydrogen project led by Orica, the world's largest explosives maker. The project, known as the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub, aims to decarbonize Orica's ammonia and explosives manufacturing operations while also focusing on supplying green fuel and ammonia for export. Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen highlighted that this funding supports Australia's energy future and is pivotal to achieving the country's net-zero goals. By shifting from gas to green hydrogen, emissions from Orica's facilities will be significantly reduced, with the production of green ammonia targeting sectors like mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.
