India is making significant strides in its green shipping agenda by transforming ports into green hydrogen hubs. The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, highlights the country's focus on leveraging port infrastructure for sustainable activities. The Bharat Global Ports Consortium is driving India's strategic investments in overseas port facilities, while the Bharat Container Shipping Line is set to acquire and lease container vessels to boost the container shipping ecosystem. The Ministry has identified Deendayal, Paradip, and VO Chidambaranar ports to be developed as green hydrogen hubs, with private sector participation in projects like electrolyzer pilot plants and hydrogen generation initiatives.
