Innovative Partnership to Produce Green Hydrogen from Recycled Aluminum
Key Ideas
  • Strategic MOU signed between HPQ, Novacium, and GLD Alloys to produce METAGENE™ fuel, enabling autonomous green hydrogen generation.
  • Recycled aluminum used in METAGENE™ process reduces carbon emissions by 95% compared to primary aluminum, showing strong environmental commitment.
  • Partnership aims to scale up METAGENE™ production with a pilot phase in 2025 and operational field tests planned for 2026, targeting the growing green hydrogen market.
  • METAGENE™'s autonomous operation and environmental benefits position it as a competitive solution in the expanding green hydrogen market projected to reach US$500 billion by 2030.
HPQ Silicon Inc. and its subsidiary Novacium SAS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GLD Alloys to produce METAGENE™ fuel, a technology for generating high-pressure green hydrogen autonomously. This partnership leverages GLD's expertise in recycled aluminum alloys, contributing to a 95% reduction in carbon emissions compared to primary aluminum. METAGENE™, based on a recycled aluminum-silicon alloy, is safe and robust, capable of releasing hydrogen efficiently. The strategic alliance aims to transition from pilot to industrial-scale production, with a pilot phase in 2025 and field tests in 2026 supported by the French Directorate General of Armaments. HPQ and Novacium's innovative approach positions them well in the rapidly growing green hydrogen market, estimated to reach US$500 billion by 2030, appealing to impact-focused investors and clean energy stakeholders.
