Malaysia's leading utility, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), is embarking on two projects to establish a green hydrogen hub in Terengganu. This initiative will leverage hydroelectric power and floating solar arrays to produce green hydrogen. By collaborating with Malaysian oil and gas giant, Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), TNB aims to advance the green hydrogen value chain and position Malaysia as a key player in the region. The project is in line with Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), highlighting a commitment to sustainable energy practices. TNB's power generation subsidiary, TNB Genco Sdn Bhd, will work with Terengganu Inc to implement a floating photovoltaic (PV) plan, integrating solar power with existing hydropower resources. The green hydrogen produced as part of this initiative will be utilized for the production of green methanol and green ammonia, contributing to a more sustainable industrial landscape. This strategic collaboration underscores TNB's commitment to renewable energy and sets the stage for Malaysia to lead in the green hydrogen sector.
