Vice President Lucia Witbooi announced the securing of N$25 million for the Youth for Green Hydrogen Scholarship programme in Namibia. Launched in Gibeon, the programme targets youth from the Hardap and //Kharas regions and is funded by the Namibian Government in collaboration with Germany. The initiative aims to provide financial support to students, ensuring equitable access to the green hydrogen economy. The VP highlighted Namibia's potential to be a global leader in green energy production. Education Minister Sanet Steenkamp emphasized that the programme is a national response to global calls for cleaner energy and local demands for skills and economic participation. The event also saw contributions from the German Embassy, emphasizing the strong cooperation between the two countries. Hardap and //Kharas regional councils stressed the need for swift decision-making to capitalize on green hydrogen opportunities for economic growth. The programme is seen as a transformative initiative opening doors for youth empowerment, inclusion, and future readiness in Namibia's journey towards sustainable growth.
