Adani Group has announced the commissioning of India's first off-grid green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy production. The 5 megawatt facility operates independently from the main electrical grid, utilizing solar energy and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for hydrogen production through electrolysis. This initiative supports India's National Green Hydrogen Mission by demonstrating technical feasibility and operational flexibility in renewable-powered industrial applications. Green hydrogen, considered the cleanest form of energy, is produced by splitting water using electricity from renewable sources like solar or wind power. The Adani pilot plant's integration of a closed-loop electrolyser system enables dynamic response to real-time renewable energy inputs, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and performance. This development reinforces the Adani Group's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the green hydrogen economy. The project aligns with India's ambition to become a global green hydrogen production hub and contributes to decarbonizing sectors such as fertilizers, refining, and heavy transport. The Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) pilot plant also paves the way for the future Green Hydrogen Hub in Mundra, Gujarat, supporting India's low-carbon future and energy self-sufficiency goals.
