Adani Enterprises, a prominent company within the Adani Group, has launched India's first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh. Equipped with advanced technology and three tanks capable of carrying 40 tonnes of cargo for 200 kilometers, this initiative marks a significant step towards sustainability. The truck was flagged off in Raipur by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and will be utilized to transport coal to the state's power plant. The Adani Group, appointed as the mine developer and operator for the Gare Pelma III block, is focused on reducing carbon emissions and setting new industry standards. The introduction of hydrogen-powered trucks not only showcases a commitment to decarbonisation but also emphasizes responsible mining practices. By gradually replacing diesel vehicles, the Group aims to promote cleaner transportation and reduce its environmental impact. Through collaborations with energy technology firms and auto manufacturers, including an Indian and international partnership, Adani is pioneering the development of hydrogen fuel cell battery-operated trucks. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles offer similar range and load capacity to diesel trucks but produce only water vapor and warm air, with minimal noise pollution. This shift towards cleaner fuels in mining operations is expected to lower emissions, noise levels, and India's dependence on crude oil imports. Additionally, Adani's initiative in sustainable mining practices includes incorporating autonomous dozer push technologies, solar power, digital innovations, and tree transplanters to minimize environmental impact. The joint effort between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited highlights the Group's dedication to decarbonisation and responsible resource management, positioning them as leaders in sustainable mining in Asia.
