Yancheng, a city in Jiangsu, China, is making significant strides towards becoming a leader in green hydrogen and renewable energy development. The General Office of the Yancheng Municipal People's Government has outlined ambitious plans to promote the construction of a regional green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol production, trade, and refueling center. The city aims to enhance the utilization of new energy resources, focusing on onshore wind power and offshore PV resources, along with the development of green fuels like methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen from renewable sources. By 2025, Yancheng plans to exceed 20 million kW of renewable energy capacity and aims to reach an annual power generation of over 45 billion kWh by 2030. Additionally, the city is dedicated to implementing demonstration projects for advanced green and low-carbon technologies, emphasizing areas such as wind, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, and carbon neutrality. Yancheng is also focusing on building a Green and Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation Park to foster innovation in renewable energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, and smart power grids. The city plans to establish a zero-carbon and negative-carbon industry research institute and support projects for inclusion in national demonstration projects for advanced green and low-carbon technologies. Furthermore, Yancheng is actively developing a green and low-carbon circular economy, leveraging the Green and Low-Carbon Industry Mother Fund to strengthen industries like new energy and next-generation information technology. The city is accelerating the development of green environmental protection industries and preparing for future sectors such as hydrogen energy and new energy storage. By 2030, Yancheng aims to have a well-established waste material utilization system and a thriving green and low-carbon industry with a projected scale of 500 billion yuan.
