EnergyPathways and Hazer Collaborate on UK's MESH Hydrogen Facility
Key Ideas
  • EnergyPathways partners with Hazer to deploy hydrogen technology for a clean hydrogen facility in the UK's MESH integrated energy storage project.
  • The collaboration involves concept engineering studies for a Hazer licensed facility with an indicative hydrogen production capacity of 90 MW.
  • The MESH project aims to provide natural gas, clean hydrogen, and low-carbon power for the UK market by electrifying existing infrastructure and integrating renewable energy sources.
  • The CEO of EnergyPathways expresses optimism about providing affordable and reliable low-carbon energy solutions through the MESH hydrogen facility and clean ammonia production.
EnergyPathways, a UK energy transition company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hazer, an Australian technology company, to utilize Hazer's hydrogen production technology in the development of a clean hydrogen facility as part of the MESH integrated energy storage project. The partnership grants EnergyPathways exclusive access to Hazer's technology within the UK for an initial 12-month period. The planned hydrogen facility is expected to have a production capacity of 90 MW and will produce hydrogen for clean power generation and ammonia for domestic use and export. The MESH project is a significant energy storage initiative that aims to provide a continuous supply of natural gas, clean hydrogen, and low-carbon power to the UK market for over 25 years. By integrating various storage technologies with renewable energy sources like offshore wind, the project seeks to establish a new energy hub in the UK. Ben Clube, CEO of EnergyPathways, views the collaboration with Hazer as a vital step towards offering affordable and reliable low-carbon energy solutions, including clean ammonia and graphite production. The partnership is expected to contribute to the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors in the UK by providing cost-effective hydrogen production and enhancing the flexibility and affordability of low-carbon power. Hazer's CEO, Glenn Corrie, highlights the importance of integrating Hazer's technology into the MESH project to ensure a secure supply of affordable and low-carbon energy products for the UK. The collaboration reflects a positive outlook on the role of technology solutions, such as hydrogen production, in achieving decarbonization goals in the energy sector.
