EnergyPathways PLC, listed on AIM (ticker: EPP), has announced a strategic partnership with Siemens Energy to advance the MESH integrated energy storage project in the UK. The project aims to deliver flexible and dispatchable power to the grid by combining hydrogen, compressed air, and natural gas storage. Siemens Energy will focus on feasibility and engineering designs for long-duration energy storage components. CEO Ben Clube highlighted the significance of this collaboration in addressing challenges faced by renewable energy, particularly wind, in reaching the market due to grid constraints. The MESH system plans to store hydrogen and compressed air in offshore salt caverns alongside natural gas storage in clastic reservoirs. By co-locating these assets, the project aims to offer various energy supply solutions, ensuring excess renewable power is absorbed and providing backup capacity during low wind periods.
