Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg addressed the importance of leveraging clean and sustainable energy, specifically hydrogen, as a key driver for the state's economic growth during the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak's 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner. Pointing out that developed countries are embracing hydrogen in their energy mix, Abang Johari emphasized Sarawak's potential in hydrogen production from water and methane. He underscored that competitive energy tariffs and sustainable energy sources could attract investors to bring capital to Sarawak, aiding both exports and industrial activities. The Premier called upon ACCCIS to proactively seek partnerships with international investors in the manufacturing and energy sectors to capitalize on Sarawak's green economy initiatives and hydrogen industry development. Praising ACCCIS for its contributions to Sarawak's progress, Abang Johari highlighted successful collaborations that have led to manufacturing investments from prominent global players. The Premier's vision involves creating joint ventures through government facilitation, indicating a shift towards renewable energy and a transformation from a timber-based to a sustainable energy-focused economy.
