Uzbekistan is gearing up to enter the green hydrogen production arena with ambitious plans to commence operations in June 2025. ACWA Power, working closely with Uzbekistan, is at the forefront of implementing this green initiative. President of ACWA Power for Central Asia, Abid Malik, unveiled the country's upcoming green hydrogen projects, emphasizing the transformative impact they will have on Uzbekistan's global standing in the green energy sector. The project, with an annual capacity of 3,000 tonnes, is a step towards enhancing Uzbekistan's presence on the global green hydrogen map. The collaboration between ACWA Power and Uzbekistan entails the establishment of green hydrogen facilities and a wind power plant, signaling a significant shift towards sustainable energy practices. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's initiative, inaugurated in 2023, highlights the country's commitment to embracing green technologies and driving forward the green economy. The investment value of US$88 million showcases the scale and importance of this green hydrogen endeavor, which aims to position Uzbekistan as a key player in the renewable energy landscape. This strategic move sets the stage for Uzbekistan's transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sector, with the potential to bring about substantial economic and environmental benefits.
