During the 4th edition of the “World Power-to-X Summit” in Marrakech, Morocco's Minister of Economic Inclusion revealed the significant potential of the green hydrogen sector in the country. It is anticipated that by 2030, this sector will create around 300,000 direct jobs, comprising 10% of the nation's employment requirements. Minister Younes Sekkouri emphasized that the development of green hydrogen and renewable energy industries not only promises job creation but also offers opportunities for indirect and induced employment. The government is actively supporting this growth by allocating one million hectares of land for projects in the sector and promoting strategic partnerships with private investors. Specific measures in the upcoming legislation will include tax incentives, subsidies, and initiatives to foster innovation and research in the green hydrogen field. Moreover, the government is focusing on enhancing the workforce by adapting training programs, with specialized institutes already operational in Oujda, Ouarzazate, and Tangier for technicians and engineers in renewable energy. The overall aim is to drive economic growth, innovation, and employment through the expansion of the green hydrogen industry in Morocco.
