Namibia is positioning itself as a future global leader in green hydrogen with a recent delegation visit to the Netherlands. The tour, aimed at advancing the country's green hydrogen ambitions, focused on knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the green hydrogen industry. Coordinated by the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P) and supported by the Dutch government, the visit involved engaging with various Dutch institutions to enhance Namibia's technical and vocational capacity. The delegation explored key sites in the Netherlands, such as YES!Delft and TU Delft's Green Village, to understand how research, industry, and local governments collaborate in advancing green hydrogen innovation. The visit also included tours of the port of Rotterdam and the RDM innovation hub to gain insights into Europe's hydrogen development initiatives. A significant aspect of the visit was the human capital agenda dialogue, emphasizing human capital development and entrepreneurship in a green hydrogen economy. Namibia's commitment to green industrial practices is evident through projects like the HyIron Oshivela plant and the Daures Green Hydrogen Village. These projects showcase the country's dedication to sustainability and green technology. The Daures Green Hydrogen Village, funded by the German government, is piloting the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Namibia. Overall, the collaboration with Dutch institutions and initiatives in green hydrogen is expected to propel Namibia towards becoming a prominent player in the global green hydrogen sector.
