ATOME PLC, listed on AIM as ATOM, has achieved a significant milestone with its Villeta green fertilizer project in Paraguay. CEO Olivier Mussat highlighted the company's recent signing of the first definitive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement with Swiss company Casale S.A. This marks the world's first large-scale green hydrogen fertilizer project to reach the EPC stage, emphasizing its global importance. Mussat expressed the long-term collaboration with Casale and praised their expertise in ammonia production and full-chain fertilizer projects. Casale, recognized as the oldest ammonia licensor globally, is seen as a key partner in driving the project forward. The partnership with ATOME presents a strategic opportunity for Casale to establish a blueprint for future growth and innovation in the sector. Looking ahead, ATOME aims to finalize the investment decision for the Villeta project by the first half of the year, with focus on securing offtake agreements with Yara and completing financial documentation. The company has already secured a $115 million equity commitment from Hy24, a hydrogen specialist investment fund, signaling strong support for the project. ATOME is currently in the process of syndicating the remaining equity to ensure successful funding for the project. The achievement of signing the EPC agreement signifies a pivotal step in the project's progression and demonstrates ATOME's ability to execute on its strategic plans for the green hydrogen fertilizer project.
