Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik highlighted the importance of Green Hydrogen in ensuring energy security and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. He encouraged global partnerships and investments in research and infrastructure to drive the adoption of Green Hydrogen in India. The focus is on developing distributed models to leverage local demand and boost domestic consumption. The government, in collaboration with industry stakeholders, is working on regulations, incentives, and standards to support the growth of Green Hydrogen. Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi emphasized the bright future of Green Hydrogen and the ministry's efforts in defining its scope. ReNew Chairman Sumant Sinha stressed the significance of Green Hydrogen in the energy transition, proposing the replacement of Grey Hydrogen with Green Hydrogen to achieve net zero targets by 2070. He addressed the cost challenges and suggested subsidies to promote Green Hydrogen production in India. The country is also working on establishing international partnerships to facilitate the trade and storage of Green Hydrogen, aiming to position itself as a global hub for this sustainable fuel.
