The planners of Fairmont’s proposed Hydrogen Hub took a significant step in their project by visiting Canton, Ohio to witness firsthand the operation of a hydrogen transit fleet by the Stark Area Regional Transit. Impressed by the safety and cleanliness of the hydrogen buses in a residential neighborhood, the Fairmont team, led by Brian Redmond, plans to model their hub after the successful practices observed in Canton. The team aims to establish a Clean Fuel Services Institute at the Fairmont site, focusing on alternative fuels like hydrogen for heavy-duty vehicles. This initiative involves collaboration with educational institutions for curriculum development and economic analysis. The project aligns with the importance of hydrogen infrastructure for mainstream adoption, emphasizing the need for regional and global networks of hydrogen producers and consumers.
