Atlantic Canada is emerging as a key hub for green hydrogen production, leveraging its abundant renewable energy resources and proximity to European markets. The region's hydrogen sector is attracting significant investment and job creation, with projections for substantial economic growth. The Newfoundland and Labrador government announced $50,000 to support the Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance, aiming to develop the region's hydrogen supply chain. The project includes defining the supply chain scope, benchmarking expertise, engaging stakeholders, and preparing a development plan. The initiative focuses on growing clean energy opportunities, supporting economic growth, job creation, emission reduction, and positioning the region as a clean energy leader. The Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance, launched in 2021, supports the development of a clean hydrogen value chain to enable the transition to a low-carbon economy in Atlantic Canada. Members include project developers, energy utilities, research institutions, government, and advocacy organizations. The project's goal is to attract investment, create jobs, cut emissions, and position the region as a clean energy leader.
