The European Commission has approved grant agreements for six additional projects under the Innovation Fund 2023, supporting innovative climate technologies in Europe. With nearly €319 million in grants, the projects aim to aid in achieving the EU's climate goals by reducing 24.1 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. The initiatives cover a wide range of sectors including hydrogen production, wind and ocean energy, energy storage, and refinery upgrades. These projects are crucial for driving climate action and implementing advanced decarbonisation technologies in industrial sectors. Through a selective funding process, 83 initiatives have now been supported, ensuring that mature and impactful projects receive financial backing. The Innovation Fund, financed by the EU Emissions Trading System, has already allocated €12 billion to approximately 200 cutting-edge projects, emphasizing the commitment to sustainable development in the European Economic Area. As the IF23 Call progresses, preparations are already underway for IF24 and IF25, demonstrating the continuous support for clean technology development and climate action in Europe.
