Hygenco Green Energies has commissioned Maharashtra's first green hydrogen and green oxygen production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, India, under the project 'Photon Leap'. This move signifies a significant step in India's journey towards sustainable manufacturing and decarbonization. The facility will supply green hydrogen and oxygen to Sterlite Technologies Ltd.'s glass preform facility, supporting their ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030. This partnership allows STL to become the world's first optical fibre manufacturer to utilize 100% green hydrogen in its production processes. The plant is developed with advanced energy management, monitoring, and control systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Amit Bansal, CEO of Hygenco Green Energies, emphasized the potential of green hydrogen in driving India's sustainability goals and praised the partnership with STL for leading the way in decarbonizing industrial processes. Similarly, Rahul Puri, CEO of Optical Networking Business at STL, lauded the partnership as a demonstration of their commitment to sustainability and operational excellence. Hygenco is investing $2.5 billion over three years to establish green hydrogen projects in India, aiming to deploy 10 GW of green hydrogen and ammonia assets by 2030 in alignment with India's net-zero ambitions. With Hygenco's leadership in the clean energy transition, the collaboration with STL paves the way for a greener, more resilient future in India and globally.
