State investment management agency BPI Danantara has partnered with ACWA Power and PT Pertamina in a US$10 billion project aimed at green hydrogen production and water desalination in Indonesia. The collaboration, one of the most ambitious sustainable energy projects in Southeast Asia, seeks to leverage global expertise and capital to accelerate Indonesia's push for integrated solar, hydrogen, and water solutions. The partnership, outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU), covers renewable power generation, green hydrogen development, and water desalination infrastructure. With a total investment of US$10 billion, the project is set to support Indonesia's energy transition targets, including a 34 percent renewable energy share by 2034 and 87 percent by 2060. ACWA Power's involvement in Malaysia, targeting clean energy capacity expansion, and Indonesia's energy diversification efforts highlight a regional momentum towards sustainable practices. The collaboration aims to create value for both nations, enhance energy resilience, and lead the transition to a low-carbon economy. The project aligns with Indonesia's and Malaysia's decarbonization agendas, with Indonesia viewing it as a potential blueprint for future green mega-projects in the region. This transformative initiative combines local resources with international innovation to drive sustainable growth and attract long-term foreign investment.
