Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has unveiled its groundbreaking plan to establish a 10,000 tons per annum (TPA) green hydrogen generation unit at the Panipat refinery and petrochemical complex in Haryana, India. This initiative marks the country's most extensive green hydrogen project to date and is projected to be operational by December 2027. The green hydrogen produced at the Panipat facility will supplant fossil fuel-derived hydrogen in refinery operations, significantly curbing carbon emissions and advancing a more sustainable operational framework for IOCL. This strategic move aligns with the Indian government's National Green Hydrogen Mission and forms a vital component of IOCL's decarbonization strategy, propelling the company towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions and solidifying its position as a frontrunner in India's sustainable energy landscape.
