The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) has revealed that its green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia, located at Oxagon in the country's northwestern region, has reached an impressive 80% completion rate. This groundbreaking project involves various key components such as the green hydrogen production plant, wind garden, solar farm, and transmission infrastructure, all making significant strides towards completion. The joint venture by ACWA Power, Air Products, and NEOM is driving this initiative, with a vision to establish the world's largest green hydrogen plant capable of producing a substantial 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen on a daily basis by the end of 2026. Essential equipment installation, including wind turbines, hydrogen storage vessels, electrolysers, cold boxes, and pipe racks, is currently in progress to facilitate the operationalization of the plant. The project is powered by a combination of solar and wind energy, with a target of achieving 4 GW of clean energy capacity by mid-2026. Additionally, the project aims to commence shipments of green ammonia, a hydrogen derivative, by 2027. Noteworthy is the project's alignment with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 objectives, particularly in terms of economic diversification and establishing global leadership in the clean energy sector. By capitalizing on the abundant renewable resources of the Kingdom and fostering strategic partnerships, the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project is poised to position Saudi Arabia as a prominent global supplier of green hydrogen, thereby advancing both regional and international decarbonization endeavors.
