The Sur Hydrogen Cluster initiative in Oman, led by Oman LNG, is entering the detailed feasibility stage to support the decarbonization efforts of major industries in Sur's industrial hub. This initiative focuses on integrating renewable energy sources and green hydrogen production to assist industrial, petrochemical, and energy projects in Sur in achieving Net Zero goals. Collaborating entities like SERC, SQU, and industry players such as Phoenix Power Oman, OMIFCO, and OQ Gas Networks are working towards establishing Sur as a hydrogen export and low-carbon fuel hub in line with Oman's national energy transition objectives. The project plans to produce 487 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per day, aiming to reduce natural gas usage and potentially redirect surplus gas for liquefaction and export by Oman LNG. Additionally, Oman LNG is exploring energy efficiency, renewable energy schemes, and has launched an Energy Efficiency Improvement Programme to enhance operational excellence. The Sur Hydrogen Cluster initiative presents significant opportunities for businesses in Oman's renewable energy sector, attracting investors looking to align with the emerging market's growth potential and sustainability goals.
