In Anaheim, California, Cellcentric, a collaboration between Daimler Truck and Volvo, is making significant strides in hydrogen powertrain technology, particularly for long-haul loads. The company's current BZA150 hydrogen fuel cell system, already being utilized in major European OEM pilot runs, offers impressive specs with high efficiency and durability, all within a compact design matching traditional diesel powertrains. Cellcentric's CTO, Nicholas Loughlan, highlighted the system's capabilities, including a proven range of 1,000 kilometers and more with heavy loads. Moreover, Cellcentric is now developing the NextGen system, which promises even greater power and efficiency, thanks to a single system design that reduces complexity and consumption. The company aims to launch large-scale production of the NextGen system by 2030, aligning the timeline with infrastructure development. Cellcentric's future plans include establishing Europe's largest fuel cell production factory to support the growth of hydrogen technology in the trucking industry.
