China is experiencing a significant increase in the adoption of LNG and battery-powered technologies within its inland shipping fleet. Vice Minister of Transport Fu Xuyin announced that over 600 inland cargo vessels are currently powered by LNG, with an additional 485 battery-powered vessels operating as passenger ferries. Furthermore, a select number of vessels are utilizing alternative fuels such as methanol and hydrogen fuel cells. China's efforts also extend to the development of sustainable inland port terminals and promoting the use of renewable electricity for port operations. These initiatives showcase China's commitment to green technologies and sustainability within its shipping industry.
