HDF Energy, a global leader in green hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cell technologies, has entered into a strategic partnership with Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) to advance the deployment of green hydrogen and high-power fuel cells in Vietnam's maritime sector. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Paris, aims to help decarbonize Vietnam's maritime industry by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Vietnam, with its extensive coastline and growing port infrastructure, sees the maritime sector as vital to its economy but acknowledges the need for sustainability improvements. The partnership between HDF Energy and VIMC comes as a response to Vietnam's commitment to global climate goals, including net-zero emissions by 2050. The agreement includes plans to implement HDF's hydrogen fuel cell technologies in Vietnam's maritime operations, with joint initiatives such as feasibility studies, technical assessments, and pilot projects to validate hydrogen-powered ship operations. This includes utilizing green hydrogen produced by HDF Energy's Renewstable® hydrogen power plants in Vietnam. The partnership also aims to secure funding for the adoption of hydrogen-powered solutions and position hydrogen as a key element in Vietnam's clean maritime strategy. VIMC's CEO highlighted the corporation's efforts in fleet restructuring and implementing green technologies, emphasizing the alignment of the partnership with VIMC's emission reduction roadmap and the Net Zero 2050 goal.
