Key Ideas
  • Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group delivered a cutting-edge pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) to SAIC Group for Anji Logistics.
  • The PCTC features a dual-fuel main engine running on LNG, with the ability to use hydrogen fuel cells and lithium batteries for power.
  • The innovative intelligent control by exhaust recycling (ICER) system helps reduce emissions and greenhouse gases, showcasing a commitment to sustainability in maritime transport.
China's Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group recently handed over a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) to the SAIC Group for operation by its subsidiary Anji Logistics. This vessel, named Anji Commonality, is part of a series of two PCTCs, with the other being the 2025-built Anji Prestige. With dimensions including an LOA of almost 200 meters and a capacity for 7,800 vehicles, the Anji Commonality is equipped with a progressive propulsion system. The ship features a dual-fuel main engine, the WinGD 7X62DF2.1, capable of running on LNG and complemented by the innovative intelligent control by exhaust recycling (ICER) system. This system aids in diminishing methane slip and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, particulate matter, and SOx. Moreover, the ICER system employs a special algorithm to automatically monitor, cool, and recirculate exhaust gases, ensuring the re-combustion of methane for better engine and generator performance. The vessel's propulsion system also allows for the utilization of hydrogen fuel cells and lithium batteries, emphasizing a sustainable approach to maritime transport. Overall, this delivery highlights advancements in eco-friendly shipping practices and the maritime industry's commitment to environmental conservation.
