Adani Enterprises has launched India’s first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards sustainable transportation. The truck, equipped with three hydrogen tanks, can transport up to 40 tonnes and offers a driving range exceeding 200 km. The launch event in Raipur, attended by Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, highlighted the state's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and embracing eco-friendly practices. Adani Enterprises, in collaboration with Indian and international energy companies and an automotive firm, aims to replace diesel trucks with these hydrogen-powered vehicles. The project, initiated to transport coal from Gare Pelma III Block to the state's power plant, signifies a shift towards carbon-zero transportation in the mining sector. The joint effort between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited emphasizes the Adani Group's dedication to sustainable practices. ANR will source hydrogen cells from ANIL, which specializes in renewable energy solutions. This synergy within the Adani Group's clean energy ecosystem facilitates a self-reliant approach to decarbonizing heavy transport. Furthermore, Chhattisgarh's state-owned power generation company's partnership with Adani Enterprises for the Gare Pelma III block development showcases a commitment to sustainable mining practices and ensuring affordable, reliable electricity for the region. The hydrogen-powered mining truck initiative not only reduces carbon footprint but also sets a new industry standard for eco-friendly transportation in the mining sector, aligning with global efforts towards cleaner energy solutions.
