Union Minister Pralhad Joshi paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru where he witnessed a significant innovation in the production of green hydrogen from agricultural waste. The Minister appreciated IISc's role in driving India's clean energy future and lauded the institute's scientists and researchers for their dedication. The technology showcased at IISc, referred to as a 'highly advanced green hydrogen generator,' was commended for its ability to produce eco-friendly hydrogen with over 99% purity using agricultural residues, contributing to carbon reduction efforts. Joshi linked this innovation to the National Green Hydrogen Mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting its goal of producing green hydrogen, increasing renewable energy capacity, attracting investments, creating jobs, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. He stressed the importance of addressing challenges such as hydrogen storage, electrolysis cost reduction, affordable hydrogen vehicles, and lowering green hydrogen prices to achieve these objectives. The Minister encouraged IISc to lead the way in developing cutting-edge technologies to drive India's position as a global leader in sustainable hydrogen solutions. Joshi assured full support from the Ministry for collaborations, financial aid, and partnerships to scale up these innovations, concluding with a call for collective efforts to establish India as a frontrunner in the green hydrogen economy.
