Sarawak is focusing on becoming a competitive aerospace hub in the Asean region by establishing an Aerospace Industrial Park. This initiative aims to support aerospace manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, and sustainable aviation fuel research. Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan highlighted the partnership with Airbus to expand the aerospace industry, create job opportunities, and attract foreign investment. Sarawak is also embracing the hydrogen economy, with plans for Sarawak Green hydrogen hubs in Bintulu and Kuching. The state is developing talent through programs like the Aerospace Academy and collaborating with Gentari to advance the Sarawak Green Hydrogen Hub, with a 'plug-and-play' model to optimize efficiency and attract investors. Legislative amendments ensure the responsible development of hydrogen activities. These efforts aim to reinforce investor confidence and ensure sustainable growth in Sarawak's aerospace and hydrogen sectors.
