ZeroAvia, a leader in hydrogen-electric aviation technology, is expanding its operations in Scotland with the establishment of a Hydrogen Centre of Excellence at AMIDS. This center will focus on powertrain production, testing, and manufacturing advanced high-temperature PEM fuel cell stacks. Supported by a £9m grant from Scottish Enterprise and significant investments from the Scottish National Investment Bank and the UK National Wealth Fund, ZeroAvia aims to drive hydrogen innovation in aviation. The company has received over £278.5m in funding from the UK government and private investors to develop hydrogen-electric technology, with plans to produce fuel cells for larger aircraft in Glasgow. ZeroAvia has achieved notable milestones, such as flying the world's first hydrogen-electric commercial scale aircraft and doubling power output for larger aircraft. Val Miftakhov, ZeroAvia's CEO, emphasizes the transformative impact of hydrogen propulsion on the aviation industry, with Scotland playing a key role in this technological advancement.
