ZeroAvia, a Washington state-based hydrogen-electric aircraft developer, has announced plans to construct a major manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Scotland. The Hydrogen Centre of Excellence will be situated at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, close to Glasgow Airport. This facility will serve as the primary site for manufacturing ZeroAvia's advanced high temperature PEM fuel cell stacks and related systems designed for zero-emission flights. Val Miftakhov, ZeroAvia's founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm for Scotland's strong aerospace and engineering capabilities, growing hydrogen industry, and clear aviation strategy, which positions the region for early adoption of zero-emission flight technologies. Miftakhov emphasized that the aviation sector is undergoing a significant transformation, with new propulsion systems poised to revolutionize aviation by offering cleaner flights, improved economics, and enhanced passenger experiences. The establishment of this manufacturing facility represents a crucial milestone in advancing sustainable aviation and underscores the industry's shift towards greener technologies.
