Key Ideas
- eCap Marine secures contracts to deliver hydrogen propulsion systems for zero-emission vessels, advancing the maritime energy transition.
- Contracts signed during Nor-Shipping reflect industry momentum towards hydrogen as a viable alternative to fossil fuels.
- Projects include supplying hydrogen-powered fuel cells for short-sea container vessels for Samskip and equipping hydrogen-powered bulk carriers for Møre Sjø.
- eCap Marine's systems will make the vessels among the first powered entirely by green hydrogen, with innovative onboard fuel cell technology.
eCap Marine, based in Hamburg, has achieved a significant milestone by securing two key contracts to provide hydrogen propulsion systems for zero-emission vessels. These contracts, signed at the Nor-Shipping maritime trade fair in Oslo, signify the maritime industry's increasing interest in hydrogen as a sustainable alternative to traditional fuels. One project involves supplying hydrogen-powered fuel cells for short-sea container vessels for logistics provider Samskip, expected to be the world's first short-sea container ships powered solely by green hydrogen. The other project with Norwegian shipping company Møre Sjø entails equipping hydrogen-powered bulk carriers designed for operations along the Norwegian coast and fjords. Each vessel will feature innovative PEM hydrogen fuel cell systems with eCap Marine's advanced technology, positioning them as eco-friendly and sustainable solutions in the maritime sector.
