The Malaysian government has initiated a mobile hydrogen refuelling station (MHRS) pilot project in Putrajaya, marking a significant step towards hydrogen mobility in the country. The launch event, officiated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) minister, focused on stimulating market demand for hydrogen through collaboration with fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) owners and suppliers. Partners like Sime UMW and UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) have contributed Toyota Mirai hydrogen FCEV vehicles for the project. The MHRS, equipped with 90 MPa compressors, chillers, and storage containers, can dispense 100 kg of hydrogen per day. The project, with a budget of RM12 million, aims to facilitate public transport like hydrogen-powered buses and lorries in Putrajaya. Partners such as NanoMalaysia, Petronas Technology Ventures, and Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation are involved to explore commercial opportunities, oversee hydrogen supply, and conduct feasibility studies on FCEV vehicles. The MHRS will serve as a testbed for new commercial opportunities and technology validation, supported by efficient logistics and suitable infrastructure in Putrajaya. The positive sentiment towards hydrogen as a sustainable energy source is evident through the government's proactive efforts and collaboration with industry players for the advancement of hydrogen mobility in Malaysia.
