In a groundbreaking move for sustainable transportation, India's first-ever hydrogen-powered buses are commencing commercial operations in Leh, Ladakh, known for its high-altitude terrains. Initiated by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited, this project signifies the country's maiden foray into deploying hydrogen fuel cell-based buses on a commercial scale. The buses were officially handed over to the State Industrial Development Corporation at a special ceremony at the Green Hydrogen Mobility Station in Palam, Leh. This initiative not only stands as a national achievement but also holds global significance, showcasing India's leadership in green mobility technologies, particularly in challenging environments like high-altitude terrains. The project, part of a larger vision for carbon-neutral transportation in sensitive regions, highlights the zero-emission nature of hydrogen buses, making them pivotal in achieving clean energy objectives.
