Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Minister of Housing & Urban Development department in Odisha, visited the head office of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) in Bhubaneswar to assess the progress of urban mobility initiatives in the state. During the visit, the Minister focused on infrastructure development, expansion plans to new towns, and digital initiatives aimed at improving public transport services. He reviewed the ongoing construction of electric depots and the expansion of city bus services to various locations across Odisha. The Minister also emphasized the importance of technology-driven operations to enhance commuter experiences and ensure swift issue resolution. Noteworthy recommendations included introducing KPI incentives for crew members, mandatory refresher training for drivers, and the deployment of three hydrogen fuel cell buses for environmentally friendly urban transport. CRUT currently operates a fleet of 560 buses across multiple routes, providing reliable urban mobility to a large number of commuters. The Minister praised CRUT's efforts in revolutionizing urban transportation in Odisha and reiterated the government's dedication to creating a sustainable and efficient public transport system in line with the Vikshit Odisha vision.
