Wrightbus, a renowned bus manufacturer, has recently delivered 12 Kite Hydroliner hydrogen fuel cell-electric single-deck buses to WestVerkehr in Germany. This marks the continuous success of Wrightbus in the hydrogen bus industry, with plans to supply approximately 130 similar vehicles in Germany by the end of 2025. The new buses will operate in the towns of Erkelenz, Heinsberg, and Hückelhoven near the Netherlands border, contributing to the growing fleet of hydrogen buses in the country. The green hydrogen for these buses will be produced by a 2MW electrolyser as part of the H2HS project, utilizing electricity from renewable sources. The CEO of Wrightbus, Jean-Marc Gales, expressed his delight in the partnership, emphasizing the environmental benefits and improved air quality for the region. WestVerkehr's commitment to environmentally friendly mobility through the procurement of these hydrogen buses reflects a significant step towards sustainable public transportation. Additionally, Wrightbus has established a European service center in Brühl near Cologne to provide support services for the hydrogen buses and plans to expand its network further across mainland Europe, following the successful model in the UK.
