Stadler has unveiled the RS ZERO, a cutting-edge train model, during the Rail Business Days in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The RS ZERO operates on both hydrogen and battery power, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly option for rail travel in the Czech Republic, especially on non-electrified lines. With only 35% of the Czech rail network currently electrified, the RS ZERO presents itself as a green alternative to the older diesel vehicles that operate on remaining lines. This innovative train is a significant step towards decarbonisation, serving as a solution for modernising the fleet in regions lacking electrification. The RS ZERO offers a range of up to 150km on a single battery charge and can cover 800km using its hydrogen propulsion system, making it suitable for regional services with lower traffic demands. Stadler's focus on sustainable solutions aligns with the Czech government's and neighboring countries' priorities for environmental protection and financial efficiency in railway transportation. The introduction of RS ZERO marks a milestone in the development of eco-friendly rail travel, providing comfort, efficiency, and environmental respect, particularly on non-electrified lines. In parallel to the RS ZERO launch, Stadler has secured a significant contract with A-Train in Sweden, valued at approximately SFr350m, for the delivery of FLIRT trains and maintenance services. This contract underscores Stadler's ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in the rail industry. The deal includes the replacement of the existing fleet operated by A-Train since 1999, showcasing Stadler's continuous efforts to enhance rail services globally.
