Nourredine Yassaa, Algeria's Minister Delegate to the Minister of Energy, represented the country at the Africa Energy Forum 2025 in Cape Town, where he showcased Algeria's strategic roadmap for renewable energy leadership. Yassaa emphasized Algeria's goal of achieving 15,000 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity by 2035, with the current phase involving the installation of 3,200 MW across 20 new solar plants. The Minister highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships and local manufacturing to create a robust renewable energy sector. Additionally, Yassaa discussed Algeria's potential as an energy bridge, capable of exporting clean electricity to Europe and beyond. During bilateral meetings, Algeria explored collaborations on green hydrogen and renewable energy with countries like Zimbabwe and the UK, as well as with the African Union. The Minister's engagements aimed to strengthen Algeria's international energy diplomacy and advance its position as a key player in the continent's energy transition.
