Germany has identified Nigeria as a crucial partner in its pursuit of sustainable energy, particularly in the realm of hydrogen collaboration. The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, emphasized Nigeria's abundance of natural resources, strategic geographic position, and progressive leadership as key factors in this partnership. With Nigeria boasting over 309 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves and substantial renewable energy potential, it is poised to potentially supply green hydrogen to Germany, which currently faces domestic limitations. The two-day stakeholder meeting in Abuja, funded by Germany and supported by GIZ, is centered on refining Nigeria's hydrogen policy. Minister Atiku Bagudu highlighted hydrogen as a prospective major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, promoting economic diversification. Dr. Marcus Wagner, the GIZ Country Director, reiterated support for Nigeria's hydrogen initiatives, praising the country's bold move towards sustainable energy leadership in Africa.
