British geoscience firm Getech and energy transition company Sound Energy have joined forces to establish a new venture in Morocco, HyMaroc Limited, dedicated to exploring the country's hydrogen and helium reserves. The collaboration follows a regional survey unveiling promising underground zones that could shape tomorrow's energy landscape. By focusing on native hydrogen, or 'white hydrogen,' sourced naturally underground, the venture aims to provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional production methods. With Morocco's ample inland basins and growing reputation as a renewable energy center, the venture holds significant potential. Apart from hydrogen, the inclusion of helium in the exploration adds further value due to its critical applications in various sectors. Through HyMaroc, the companies intend to position Morocco as a leader in the global energy transition, utilizing advanced geological modeling and expertise to drive sustainable energy solutions and contribute to the evolving energy market.
