Adani Group has unveiled India's first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions. This initiative by Adani Enterprises aims to gradually replace diesel vehicles in their logistics operations, showcasing a commitment to cleaner and greener practices. The hydrogen fuel cell trucks, developed in collaboration with Indian and international energy technology firms as well as a major auto manufacturer, boast smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, enabling them to transport 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-km range. The deployment of the first truck in Chhattisgarh by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasizes the state's dedication to sustainability and sets a new benchmark for the industry. The Adani Group's focus on decarbonisation and responsible mining is reflected in their efforts to incorporate sustainable practices such as autonomous dozer push technologies, solar power utilization, and tree transplanters for environmental conservation. By switching from diesel-powered machinery to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that emit only water vapour and warm air, the mining industry can significantly reduce emissions, noise pollution, and reliance on fossil fuels. Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited are working together on this project, with ANR handling the sourcing of hydrogen cells from ANIL while both entities are involved in green hydrogen production, wind turbines, solar modules, and battery manufacturing. Hydrogen, being the most abundant element, offers a clean and efficient alternative to traditional fuels. The use of hydrogen fuel cell trucks not only supports sustainable mining practices but also aligns with India's efforts to reduce oil imports and carbon footprint. Adani Natural Resources, through its adoption of Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology, enhances safety and sustainability in mining operations, demonstrating a commitment to responsible resource management and environmental stewardship.
