Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to establish a waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) ecosystem in West Java Province, Indonesia, during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta. The Group aims to collaborate with Pertamina and the West Java Province to launch an on-site hydrogen refueling station by 2027, utilizing Pertamina's CNG infrastructure. This initiative expands on Hyundai's successful W2H model in Korea and involves the production of low-carbon hydrogen from biogas at the Sarimukti landfill near Bandung. The project also involves a consortium of leading Korean organizations and companies to incorporate advanced hydrogen policies and technologies. The partnership includes Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of National Development Planning, and PT Pertamina, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable hydrogen solutions. The event in Jakarta showcased Indonesia's national hydrogen roadmap and outlined hydrogen policies for Nusantara, the country's new capital city. Hyundai's initiative aligns with Indonesia's objectives and reflects in the country's National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap, emphasizing a positive sentiment towards hydrogen as a key component of Indonesia's energy transition towards sustainability.
