AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a green hydrogen and low-carbon fuel supply chain connecting India and Northwestern Europe via Rotterdam. This strategic partnership aims to advance the global energy transition by enhancing clean fuel trade between Asia and Europe. The collaboration will focus on supplying bunkering fuels, developing terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam, and ensuring a safe distribution network for hydrogen-based fuels and products. The initiative is projected to facilitate the export of up to 1 million tons of hydrogen-based fuels annually, fostering trade worth up to US$ 1 billion per year between the two regions. Moreover, the partnership will play a crucial role in linking India's Net Zero Industrial Clusters to the European market, promoting sustainable energy practices. Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of establishing a robust supply chain for low-carbon fuels and chemicals. This agreement signifies a significant step towards creating a sustainable green energy supply chain leveraging India's green hydrogen production capacity and Rotterdam's advanced infrastructure. The initiative not only strengthens Rotterdam's status as Europe's leading energy port but also elevates India's position as a key global exporter of renewable fuels, supporting the goals of decarbonisation, clean energy adoption, and maritime sustainability across Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia.
