AM Green and Rotterdam Port Partner on $1 Billion Green Fuel Corridor
Key Ideas
  • AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam are collaborating to establish a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe, trading 1 million tonnes of green fuels annually.
  • The partnership aims to develop strategic port infrastructure for the safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels, supporting India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe's decarbonisation goals.
  • AM Green plans to start production at its green ammonia facility in Kakinada by the second half of 2026, targeting export markets in Europe with signed offtake agreements.
  • The collaboration with DP World will strengthen AM Green's presence in international green fuel markets by developing advanced storage and export infrastructure in India and overseas.
AM Green, in partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, is embarking on a project to establish a green energy supply chain connecting India and Northwestern Europe. The collaboration aims to trade 1 million tonnes of green fuels annually, worth up to $1 billion. This initiative involves the transportation of bunkering fuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) between the two regions, with a focus on developing terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam and throughout Northwestern Europe. The goal is to support the safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels and products, facilitating the export of up to 1 million tonnes annually from India to Europe. AM Green's ambitious plans include developing 5 million tonnes of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030, with initial production starting in Kakinada. The Port of Rotterdam's strategic location and advanced infrastructure position it as a crucial hub for the collaboration, supporting Europe's decarbonisation goals and India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. The partnership also involves plans for building a green ammonia facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated cost of around Rs 12,500 crore. This facility will focus on producing 1 million tonnes of green ammonia for export markets in Europe, with offtake agreements already in place with major buyers. Additionally, AM Green's collaboration with DP World is geared towards enhancing storage and export infrastructure in India and overseas to strengthen its presence in international green fuel markets.
