In a groundbreaking move, Coal India Limited (CIL) and AM Green have entered into one of the world's largest renewable energy contracts, aiming to supply 4500 MW of carbon-free energy to AM Green's upcoming green ammonia facilities. The supply will come from a mix of solar and wind power, with capacities to be set up across India. This initiative is part of India's commitment to achieving a cleaner energy mix and moving towards net-zero emissions. The agreement, formalized through a MoU, outlines plans for CIL to provide 2500-3000 MW of solar power and 1500-2000 MW of wind power, with an estimated investment of around Rs. 25,000 Crores. AM Green, backed by the founders of Greenko Group, targets to produce 5 million tons per annum of green ammonia by 2030, contributing significantly to India's green hydrogen production target. The partnership also involves integrating pumped hydro storage to ensure a steady supply of green energy. The collaborative efforts between CIL and AM Green mark a crucial milestone in India's sustainable energy landscape, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to renewable sources and reducing carbon emissions.
