Coal India Limited (CIL) and AM Green have entered into a partnership to collaborate on a significant renewable energy project in India. Under a non-binding MoU, CIL will provide up to 4,500 MW of renewable energy to support AM Green's green ammonia production objectives. The energy will be generated through a mix of solar and wind power projects, with planned capacities in the range of 2,500 MW to 3,000 MW for solar and 1,500 MW to 2,000 MW for wind power. The total investment for this initiative is projected to be around ₹25,000 crore. Potential project sites are being considered in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, and southern India. To ensure consistent power supply, AM Green will integrate pumped hydro storage at its facilities. AM Green aims to produce 5 MTPA of green ammonia by 2030, necessitating about 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. This aligns with India's green hydrogen targets set by the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The partnership is seen as a crucial step in providing clean energy solutions for industrial use and signifies a move towards sustainable energy practices. The agreement was signed by key representatives from both companies, highlighting the commitment to renewable energy development and decarbonization efforts. AM Green's focus on green ammonia, green hydrogen, and other sustainable energy products underlines its contribution to India's net-zero goals and global decarbonization endeavors.
