The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, emphasized the importance of environmental protection by advocating for the promotion of e-vehicles and green hydrogen to combat climate change. The state government's initiative involved launching 20 e-taxis under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Start-up Yojana, with a 50% subsidy provided to youth to purchase these vehicles. This move not only aims to address climate change but also provides gainful employment to the youth in the state. The subsidy scheme has already disbursed Rs 4.22 crore to 59 eligible youth, with more beneficiaries set to receive the subsidy soon. Sukhu highlighted that this initiative will not only create job opportunities for the youth but also ensure a fixed income for five years by attaching them with government offices, with a provision for a two-year extension. Additionally, he mentioned that this effort will contribute significantly to reducing the financial burden on the state. Moreover, Sukhu noted that the ongoing reforms in various government departments have yielded positive results, with Himachal Pradesh now ranking 5th in the country for providing quality education, up from the 21st position.
